Usability tests overview
Usability tests are task-based studies where participants interact with prototypes (Figma, ProtoPie, Adobe XD, or URLs) while FromUsers records behavior and answers follow-up questions.
When to use a usability test
Section titled “When to use a usability test”- Validate a new checkout or onboarding flow on a Figma prototype
- Run first-click or five-second tests on marketing pages
- Compare design variants with a preference test
- Observe free exploration with screen recording
Editor tabs

Recording and devices
Section titled “Recording and devices”In Configure:
- Recording and tracking — enable screen recording and/or participant (camera) recording
- Allowed devices — restrict to desktop, tablet, and/or mobile
Participants may need to grant browser permissions before starting. Recordings upload in chunks and can be transcribed when AI/STT is configured.
Status and distribution
Section titled “Status and distribution”Same lifecycle as surveys: Draft, Live, Paused, Closed.
Distribution uses shareable links, email, and Prolific — not an SDK embed.
