Matrix rating (per-row scales)
Matrix rating (MATRIX_RATING) lets participants score several items (rows) on one shared scale — like multiple rating questions in a single block, without defining column options for each row.
Find it under Tables & matrices in the content picker. Available in surveys, usability tests, and in-product studies.
When to use it

Setup options
Section titled “Setup options”- Rows — Statements or dimensions (e.g. Experience, Value, Support)
- Format — Numeric, stars, or smileys (same controls as a single Rating question)
- Scale — 3, 5, 7, or 10 points
- Labels — Global start/end labels (e.g. Poor → Excellent), or row-specific bipolar labels per dimension
Results & Insights Studio
Section titled “Results & Insights Studio”For each matrix rating question you can show:

Turn charts on or off and reorder them from the Chart type menu on the question card.
Cross-filter — In cross-filter mode, click scale points on the semantic profile or bars to filter other questions. Filters use row labels where available (e.g. Features: 5).
Custom dashboards — Converting from the default dashboard creates separate widgets per chart type. Use breakdown on a widget to compare segments (e.g. by device or country) in small multiples.
Export — CSV export includes overall and per-row means plus rating-level counts.
Design tips
Section titled “Design tips”- Keep rows readable (roughly 15 or fewer when possible)
- Use row-specific labels when dimensions need different wording (e.g. “Slow” / “Fast” vs “Ugly” / “Beautiful”)
- Pair with paste content with AI when your source text lists items clearly
