AI Study Generator
Study Generator (/study-generator) creates draft studies using AI when OpenAI is configured in Settings.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- Open Settings → AI
- Add your OpenAI API key
- Confirm the key is valid (the app runs an availability check automatically)
If AI is unavailable, the generator offers template fallbacks instead of AI output.
Step 1 — Choose study type
Section titled “Step 1 — Choose study type”| Type | Result |

Step 2 — Describe the study
Section titled “Step 2 — Describe the study”Provide:
- Purpose — what you want to learn
- Target audience — who participates
- Topic — product area or feature
- Duration — expected length
- Objectives — specific research questions
- Business goals — decisions the study supports
- Requirements — constraints (languages, devices, etc.)
Step 3 — Review AI preview
Section titled “Step 3 — Review AI preview”FromUsers generates a Study preview with suggested pages and questions.
Refine
Section titled “Refine”- Regenerate with feedback text
- Iterate on individual sections before committing
Create
Section titled “Create”Click Create study → redirects to the correct builder:
/surveys/{id}/edit/usability-tests/{id}/edit/in-product-surveys/{id}/edit
Always review logic, branding, and legal copy before publishing.
Tips for better drafts
Section titled “Tips for better drafts”- Be specific about task scenarios for usability tests.
- Mention required question types (e.g. “include NPS at end”).
- State languages upfront if not English-only.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”AI generation sends your brief and generated content to your configured AI provider. Do not include personal data about participants in the brief.
