Surveys
Section titled “Surveys”Use when participants complete a standalone questionnaire outside your product (or via a link you send).
Strengths:
- Full library of question types except usability-only tasks
- Email distribution and Prolific recruitment
- Multilingual studies with translation UI
- Partial save and multiple-response controls in Configure
Create: /surveys/new → creation wizard (languages, details, team) → /surveys/{id}/edit
Usability tests
Section titled “Usability tests”Use when participants interact with a prototype while completing tasks you define.
Strengths:
- Interactive task types: goal-based task, free exploration, first-click, 5-second test, preference test
- Assets & Media tab for Figma, ProtoPie, Adobe XD, and uploaded prototypes
- Recording and tracking — screen and/or participant recording
- Allowed devices — restrict desktop, tablet, or mobile
- ProtoPie player proxied through the API for embedded prototypes
Create: /usability-tests/new → wizard (languages, template, prototypes, groups, team) → /usability-tests/{id}/edit
Participants may be asked for recording permissions before starting.
In-product surveys
Section titled “In-product surveys”Use when feedback should appear inside your website or web app for logged-in or anonymous users.
Strengths:
- Display modes: modal, banner, embedded, toast
- Page targeting — URL contains, equals, starts with, regex, URL parameters
- Triggers — time on page, element click/hover/input, scroll depth, exit intent, custom JS events
- Frequency caps — once ever, once per session, or custom interval
- Quarantine — minimum time between surveys
- Integration Guide tab with embed code and SDK examples
Create: /in-product-surveys/new → /in-product-surveys/{id}/edit
Distribution is via Embed (/in-product-surveys/{id}/embed), not email links.
Shared builder features
Section titled “Shared builder features”All three types use:
- Page builder — pages, sections, question blocks, page breaks
- Logic & Variables — branching, display logic, computed variables
- Brand tab — colors, logo, fonts; link to org branding template
- Preview — in-editor and full-page preview routes
- Translations page — open Translations from the study list for each language
